Newly surfaced police footage is drawing renewed attention to the 2020 Atlanta shooting that resulted in the death of Chicago rapper King Von and the subsequent arrest of Lul Tim, whose real name is Timothy Leeks. The footage reportedly captures officers responding to the scene and confirming that Von was the person who had died following the confrontation. The incident occurred on November 6, 2020, outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta, where an altercation involving the groups associated with King Von and Quando Rondo escalated into gunfire. Von, whose real name was Dayvon Bennett, was fatally wounded and later died at a hospital.
Lul Tim, who was associated with Quando Rondo, was arrested the following day and charged with felony murder in connection with Von’s death. He maintained through his legal team that his actions were in self-defense. He was later released on bond while the case remained pending. In August 2023, prosecutors dismissed the charges against Leeks before he was ever indicted. His attorney, Noah Pines, confirmed the dismissal, bringing an end to the murder case against him. Reports at the time indicated that prosecutors determined the shooting fell within Georgia’s self-defense laws.
The newly circulated footage has prompted renewed discussion online about the events surrounding Von’s death, Lul Tim’s arrest, and the legal outcome of the case.
