A serious two-vehicle crash on the Huon Highway at Lower Longley has resulted in significant disruption and at least one person sustaining serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene earlier today, where they found two vehicles involved in a collision on the highway. Police confirmed that one person was seriously injured and received treatment at the scene.
The Huon Highway was closed in both directions while emergency crews responded, with traffic diversions put in place across the region. Southbound vehicles were redirected via Sandfly Road and Huon Road, while northbound traffic was diverted at Dip Road, with additional rerouting through Pelverata Road, an unsealed alternative route.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area due to prolonged delays and ongoing emergency operations. The closure remained in effect for several hours as investigators worked to assess the scene and manage traffic flow safely.
At the time of reporting, the highway has since reopened following the earlier crash, though officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
